In March of 2011 many of our regular customers heard me say that The Singin’ Bean would be open 1 final year and if the economy didn’t turn around I would close in March of 2012. That sparked some conversations and interest in the community. There has been much conversation about selling the coffeehouse or taking on investors or partners. So many people have had so many ideas that I met with a professional Restaurant Broker who was able to help me develop a very creative plan to keep this now Historic Lawrenceville Landmark open. March is almost here and many would l like to keep the dream alive. If the right person or persons come along that care about it the way Patty and I have they could find themselves owner of the first Karaoke coffeehouse of it’s kind. In 2003 Patty Glenny and I founded The Singin’ Bean. Our Dream was to have a place where families could come and enjoy Karaoke, family and community along with some amazing coffee and desserts. No one had our unique concept and families couldn’t enjoy Karaoke together. Parents had few places they could send their teens where they felt they would be safe, because most Karaoke is in a Bar. My daughter Savannah who is now 15 used to beg to go with me to sing, and I couldn’t take her with me so even though we had our own Karoake machine at home, it wasn’t the same. “Someone should have Karaoke in a Coffeehouse,” I said. Patty and I took 2 dreams; hers a deli/ bakery and mine a Karaoke coffeehouse and the idea for the Singin’ Bean was born. The sandwich deli allowed us to offer our customers yummy food while they enjoyed being a STAR, 3-4 times a night on our stage 3 nights a week. Then the name .. What to name it? Karaoke Coffee, Karaoke Coffee and Confection? So while struggling with a name my brother Mark, “marketing genius” says you oughta call it something like … The Singin’ Bean.. Oh my gosh goosebumps please.. That’s it. The Singin’ Bean got its name. I started drawing a logo then Patty enhanced it all via fax machine. Patty had the restaurant expertise and her cakes were to die for and I had the marketing background and well the capital. Well I had a shoestring capital. I pretty much cashed in and maxed out every dollar available to me. I saw the vision Patty saw the vision and we spent 6 months renovating, well actually completely overhauling this 2nd story little historic space that you now know as The Singin’ Bean, doing most of the work ourselves. You’d be surprised what 2 women can do when they put their minds to it and heaven forbid you tell us it can’t be done. Yes It Can! I saw a quote from Doreen Vitrue on facebook yesterday that explains it exactly. ” Thank You Doreen Virtue~“When you set out on a goal, know that you can do it, see the end product of your effort, and don’t allow yourself to focus on any fear or doubt about the details.”
That was it exactly. Our vision was to be here for families and I believe we have done just that. We just knew. So my advise, to own a coffeehouse like this one you just have to KNOW and let go of the fear that is holding you back from making your dream a reality.
Patty had to move away several years ago and left the coffeehouse in my loving hands. I’ve tried to nuture it and make her proud. The Singin’ Bean is really a big part of our lives. My children Savannah and Bailey have really grown up and blossomed here. I met my soulmate and husband, Donald here. Landon Pigg’s song, “Falling in Love at a Coffeehouse” became a reality for me and for many of our customers. We have made so many friends who have really become family to us. We call them “The Regulars” but they are so much more than that. We want to keep their home away from home alive. As you know, 2012 is the year of major change after all it’s, “The end of the world as we know it.” So the opportunity to share the dream or pass the baton has come. Below you will find a very creative offer. If you are a true visionary and believe in yourself completely and in the future success of our dream The Singin’ Bean Where you can have your karaoke and coffee Too, please contact me.
We would also like to thank all our fans, regulars and friends who support us and share a part of their lives with us each week. You have made all efforts so memorable and worth every drop of blood, sweat and tear we have invested in The Singin Bean Coffeehouse.

My husband and I are really interested in talking with you more about this opportunity to own a small business on the Square. I’ve worked on the Square at 2 different restaurants (Local Republic and Corner Stop Cafe) since 2009 and love the people who frequent the small businesses in our local town. I’ve been a baker since 2007 and have indeed been a barista before as well. And karaoke, well who doesn’t love it? Please contact me at your earliest convenience regarding the sale of your business. Thank you, Toni Carlton-Salley
